Goldman Sachs predicts that artificial intelligence (AI) could replace over 300 million jobs, and generative AI systems like ChatGPT are now advanced enough to replace human tasks such as writing policies and drawing images.
However, experts emphasise the importance of human oversight to ensure that AI-generated policies and documents meet business needs and do not discriminate or hold any bias.
Generative AI can be particularly useful in recruitment, where administrative tasks can be simplified and accelerated. As much as 63% of the US workforce could have some aspects of their role automated, leading HR teams to recalibrate recruitment and retention strategies. HR will need to adapt rapidly to a changing skills landscape and redesign jobs to make the best use of humans and machines interacting.
Almost a third of HR roles were at risk of being replaced by robots in 2020, with HR administration being the most likely role to be automated.
